Chromatography

Chromatography Aim: To separate colours by using the process of chromatography.


Definition: A technique for separating the different parts of a mixture / solid using liquid.

Rainbow paper

Materials;

1. Filter paper
2. cup
3. water colour markers colours black,green and red
4. Hot water
5. ruler
6. pencil

Process:

Step 1: get filter paper.
Step 2: fold the paper 2 cm.
Step 3: add the colours by 1 cm.
Step 4: put the filter paper in the cup while the edge hangs of outside of the cup.
Step 5: add hot water to where the colours are.
Step 6: watch the colours rise.

Findings: we found what we just do in mixing the colours and the colour is blue.

Reflection: mixing the colours and how to put other colour to make beautiful.

Skittles

Aim: To separate colours by using the process of chromatography.

Materials;

1. petrie dish 
2. skittles
3. water

Process:

Step 1: Get a petris dish.
Step 2: Add 5 skittles and put them.
Step 3: Add water.
Step 4: watch it make a pie chart.

Findings: When we did the skittles and we put the water and it goes like a  rainbow.

Reflection: How to make skittles rainbow and I have learnt a new experiment 

What did the colours do? Rainbow.
Did the colours mix together? Yes.
Why or why not? Why the skittles is like a rainbow because the skittles it's look like a rainbow.

Extension:

What is another experiment you could do using: making my own experiment 

Title; pencil scratch art experiment



Step: 1 get any type of pencil you want it could have an eraser.
Step: 2 get hot water.
step: 3 get filter paper that fits the pencil.
Step: 4 get acrylic black paint 
Step: 5 add the hot water to a cup
Step: 6 add your filter paper with the colours on the cup of hot water
Step: 7 wait for to dry 
Step: 8 add tape all around
Step: 9 add the black paint all around the filter paper and glue it in the pencil.
